WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE POPPY HAIR CLIP-IN EXTENSIONS?

Poppy Hair has been specifically handmade and designed with you in mind! Poppy creator Sara Rash has worn extensions for years and knew exactly what she was looking for in creating this hair. Poppy Hair is perfect for every type of texture and density out there to add instant length and volume to your own hair. Our extensions are made with only the highest grade 100% Remy human hair available and the best quality materials to ensure our wefts are secure with minimal shedding.

Poppy Hair Extensions are specifically made with silicone lined pressure clips that are made to grip without pulling on your natural hair or scalp, so it's perfect for those girls with finer hair, or really anyone looking for a little bit of umph! Clip-in hair extensions are the fastest, easiest, and least damaging type of hair extensions that you can apply all by yourself without having to go to a professional. Clip-in hair extensions are a temporary method of hair extensions, which means you can clip them in and out whenever you want. Our extensions are ideal if you are looking to add length and volume to your hair without the commitment or breaking the bank.

Poppy Extensions are made with 100% Remy real human hair and can be treated the same as the hair on your very own head, but just a little more gently of course! With practice, it can take only 5 minutes or less to clip in the whole set of hair extensions. Feel free to wash them, dry them, use thermal tools to style them and even swim with them!

HOW TO CHOOSE THE CORRECT COLOR OF HAIR EXTENSIONS?

If you want the perfect shade match, we're here to help! Poppy Hair Extensions come in 25 different shades ranging from deep black and brown to bright blonde shades, and even some balayage and ombre shades. Poppy Hair Extensions are dyed using a multi-tonal adapt system, which means that there are subtle highlights and lowlights, and lighter and darker strands throughout each set. This gives the shades movement, dimension, and depth, It also ensures that the extensions blend with your natural hair even if your hair color is a shade or two off.

When choosing a color, we always suggest you pick a color that matches your hair from the middle (around your chin) to the ends. Never choose a color that matches your roots, because that tends to be a different shade.

To choose your perfect Poppy Hair shade, please watch our color matching guide video, which explains the differences between each color. We will continually update this video as we increase our color collection. Our Instagram is also a great portfolio for showing the different shades we offer. You can browse our photos and see in the caption what color our customer is wearing. This can show how one shade can work with a variety of tones and how the shade will look in different lighting. Note some photos might be edited, so keep that in mind.

HOW CAN I GET HELP CHOOSING A SHADE?

If you are still having trouble choosing your shade, email us at info@poppyhairextensions.com with a couple recent selfies taken in natural lighting with no direct sunlight. In these photos, we will need to see your hair from top to bottom, and with no filters added. Ensure your hair is down and the picture shows your entire hair, a photo showing all your hair from the back is the most helpful. The Poppy Hair team will be happy to make a recommendation!

If you are still unsure, we recommend that you consult a hair stylist or trusted hair professional.

I HAVE HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS OR OMBRE/BALAYAGE HAIR, WHICH SET IS RIGHT FOR ME?

We feel like highlighted and lowlighted shades are the perfect way for extensions to blend with hair colors naturally. We have sourced our favorite highlighted/lowlighted shades and ombre options! For those who have a combination of shades in their hair, we always recommend going for a set that matches the lightest highlight or portion of your hair. This is because although Poppy Hair Extensions can be dyed a darker color - we do not recommend bleaching them. Bleaching is a harmful process that can alter the quality of your set, and even damage it.

You will have to take your set to a professional hair colorist, who has had previous experience dyeing hair extensions to have them add in lowlights or dye the roots a darker color in order to achieve an overall match. If you do decide to get them dyed, we recommend that you test a one clip weft prior to dyeing the full set, to ensure that you are satisfied with the results.

WHEN I RECEIVED MY HAIR EXTENSIONS THE COLOR DIDN’T MATCH, CAN I RETURN OR EXCHANGE IT?

We're sorry you didn't love your Poppy Hair! We are happy to accept returns and exchanges within 30 days on all sets that have not been opened, worn, or tampered with. Because of the delicate nature of 100% Remy Human Poppy Hair, once the VOID sticker that seals your extensions set is broken, you are no longer eligible for a refund.

The good news is that Poppy Hair Extensions come with a tester weft in the bottom compartment of the hair bag. We encourage you to use the included tester weft before breaking the VOID seal to determine whether or not the color is a good match.

Please read our Return Policy and our Exchange Policy, and then email info@poppyhairextensions.com when you are ready to proceed with your return or exchange.

Be sure to include the TESTER portion from your set of Poppy Hair as it is part of the full set of extensions! The TESTER piece may NOT be died, cut or altered in any way in order to still receive your refund for the extensions or a color exchange!

THE SET I WANT TO ORDER IS BACKORDERED – WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

We try our very best to stock the appropriate amount of units in our warehouse to ensure that none of our items are on backorder. On rare occasions, however, a unit may be out of stock for a short period of time. If a set is listed as being on backorder, that means we have no more units left in our warehouse but have a new shipment on the way. The date listed beside the backorder notice indicates when we are expecting our new shipment in for that particular set. That is when you can expect for your order to begin processing at our warehouse and preparing for shipment.

DO I NEED TWO SETS?

Like mentioned above, each set comes with 220 grams which is a very good amount of hair. If your hair is thin you may not even use the full set. We recommend starting with one and practicing our blending tips! If you still think your natural hair is too thick and they aren’t blending, you may need two sets.

WHAT LENGTH DO YOU OFFER?

It's important to get the length of your hair extensions just right. Currently, we are offering only 20 inches. This is the most popular and versatile length for most people. 20 inch extensions come to bust level (depending on height and frame). The best way of checking which length hair extension will be most suitable for you is to measure from the middle of your ear downwards. This will show you roughly where the hair extensions will come to and also give you an idea of how much longer the hair extensions will be compared to your own hair.

If you are looking for a shorter length, you’re always welcome to have your Poppy Hair cut or trimmed shorter by an experienced hair stylist since they are made of 100% Remy human hair. If you decide to get them cut, we recommend having them already clipped into your hair during the haircut. We also recommend coming up with a numbering system for the wefts, so that you know exactly where each weft is supposed to be clipped in for the future uses.

WHAT IF I WANT A LONGER LENGTH OF EXTENSIONS?

If you would like a longer length, you can custom order it in the shade of your choice. Since we are custom making this length for you, please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery. All custom orders are final sale, so please make sure that you choose the correct shade by ordering swatches. For more information and pricing or to place an order, reach out to us at info@poppyhairextensions.com with the subject "custom order."

I HAVE SHORT HAIR. WILL POPPY HAIR BLEND?

For best results, we recommend that your hair be at least 6-7 inches in length (around shoulder length). Our extensions come in a thickness of 220g which ensures that there is enough hair on each weft to create a seamless blend.

DO CLIP IN HAIR EXTENSIONS WORK IN FINE AND THIN HAIR?

They are specifically made with silicone lined pressure clips that are made to grip without pulling on your natural hair or scalp, so it's perfect for those girls with finer hair. Our hair extensions work really well with thin or fine hair, here are a few really useful tips for you:

Fit the clip in extensions as close to the head as possible. Wear the wefts slightly lower down on the head as this will help to hide them. Try backcombing your roots and applying some hairspray to give the extensions something better to grip onto. Ask your stylist to layer the hair extensions as this will help create an even more natural result.

As a general rule, clip in hair extensions are the most suitable type of hair extensions for fine and thin hair. This is because clip in hair extensions are temporary and non-damaging.

HOW LONG WILL POPPY HAIR LAST?

The lifespan of your Poppy Hair Extensions depends on how often your extensions are worn, the products you use on them, and the care given to them. We recommend replacing your extensions every 6 months up to a year or even longer. Being that this is a Human Hair product, there is not a guaranteed time frame that the Poppy Hair Extensions will last. This is an estimate based on the best quality care being given. The amount of times you wear your extensions and the products used are key factors which determine the lifespan of the hair extensions. For tips and tricks on how to care for your hair extensions, check out this blog post.

HOW TO CLIP IN HAIR EXTENSIONS?

With a little bit of practice, clipping in hair extensions is very fast and easy! Simply snap the clips open and clip them close to the roots of your hair. They will stay securely in your hair without showing. We have step by step tutorials on how to clip in hair extensions for different hair types on our Poppy Hair blogs.

To learn how to clip in hair extensions, be sure to check out this blog post.

If you have short hair, read how to clip in hair extensions for short hair here.

If you have fine hair, be sure to check out this blog post on how to clip in and blend hair extensions for fine hair.

CAN I COLOR MY EXTENSIONS I ORDERED FROM POPPY?

Yes! Since Poppy Hair extensions are made of 100% Remy human hair, they can be dyed a darker color or toned by a professional hair colorist, who has had previous experience in working with hair extensions. If you are a hair expert and would like to tone your extensions yourself, please view this video for detailed instructions. Of course, if you are ever unsure, we do recommend that you have a professional help you out.

It is strongly advised that you do not bleach or lighten hair extensions. The hair has already been through a chemical process and any additional lightening is likely to affect the condition of the hair. Bleaching is a harmful chemical process that can alter the quality of your set, and even damage it. Bleaching and lightening damages our own hair but we have a natural supply of sebum oils to help replenish and restore the hair, hair extensions do not have this natural supply.

If you are in-between shades, we recommend going for the lighter color and taking your set to a professional hair colorist to have them dye your set a darker shade in order to achieve an overall match. Similarly, if you have highlights, we recommend going for a shade that matches the lightest highlight in your hair and having a professional hair colorist add in lowlights to your set.

If you do decide to get your Poppy Hair dyed, we recommend for a one clip weft to be tested first prior to dyeing or toning the full set, to ensure that you are satisfied with the results. Most stylists will have experience dying hair extensions and can avoid many of the pitfalls associated with box dyes.

HOW TO WASH AND DRY HAIR EXTENSIONS?

In the event that you need to wash your extensions, be sure to remove any tangles before they come in contact with the water. If hair is extremely tangled, apply a detangler and brush out very gently in small sections from bottom to top with a wet brush. Apply shampoo first, rinse off, then apply a generous amount of conditioner from top to bottom, working the product through the hair. Rinse off the conditioner, then rinse the extensions again in cold water to lock in moisture. Try not to tangle the hair when washing, simply apply the product from top to bottom of the combed out, wet hair. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry, preferably on a hanger as this will cut your dry time in half.

Although it might seem a little odd to not wash your extensions every night, it just isn’t necessary. Unlike our own hair, Poppy Hair Extensions do not receive natural oils from your scalp, so frequent washing is not necessary. We recommend washing them only when exposed to strong odors, or every 15-20 uses. DO NOT attempt to brush extensions when wet. Please keep in mind that the less you wash your Poppy Hair, the longer they will last.

We highly recommend using sulfate-free hair products, as non sulfate-free ingredients can dry the hair out, leading to frizzy, tangly hair.

HOW TO BRUSH HAIR EXTENSIONS?

Just like your natural hair, hair extensions can and will tangle, as all long hair does. We recommend brushing your extensions before and after use, as well as throughout the day with a wet brush or detangling hairbrush. When brushing your extensions, we recommend brushing the hair from bottom to top to gently loosen and smooth any tangles in the hair.

WHAT PRODUCTS CAN I USE ON HAIR EXTENSIONS?

Since hair extensions do not get consistent nourishment from the scalp like natural hair, it is important to choose the right products to keep your extensions looking and feeling luxurious.

When selecting products for your hair extensions, we recommend using organic hair products whenever possible. Check out this article about why organic hair products are so awesome. If you are unable to get fully organic hair products, we recommend to at least choose alcohol-free and sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners. We recommend using high-quality products specifically formulated for dry and damaged hair, as they will help keep the strands healthy and nourished.

You may use hot tools on your extensions, just like you would your own hair. However, avoid using high and excessive heat and ALWAYS use a heat protectant, it will prolong the lifespan of your Poppy Hair.

WHAT TEMPERATURE CAN POPPY EXTENSIONS BE STYLED AT?

We recommend setting your tool at 120C/250F, as anything higher runs the risk of damaging the hair. The reason why we recommend opting for a lower heat setting is because it will prolong the lifespan of your set. While our own hair may be able to handle a high heat setting, our hair is also constantly getting revitalized from the scalp, whereas hair extensions don’t get that sort of nutrition. Make sure to use a heat protectant spray when applying any hot tools on your hair extensions!

HOW DO I CUT MY EXTENSIONS?

Your Poppy Hair should be cut by a professional using a razor. Start with small amounts and work your way up to the perfect length for you. Remember that your hair will shrink when curled, dried, or braided.

CAN I SLEEP WITH MY EXTENSIONS?

We do not recommend sleeping with your hair extensions clipped in, as this could cause excessive tangling, which can be damaging to the extensions as well as your own hair. We recommend removing your extensions every night before bed, but if for some reason, you must sleep in your extensions, we suggest braiding your hair in a tight braid all the way to the ends to prevent tangling. In the event you may fall asleep while wearing your extensions, it will not harm you or your Poppy Hair Extensions.

CAN I SWIM IN MY EXTENSIONS?

It is not recommended to swim in your Poppy Hair Extensions primarily because it can cause excessive tangling, which is damaging to extensions and your own hair. But if you happen to go swimming, we suggest braiding your hair to prevent tangling and wash your extensions as soon as you can after getting out of the water to prevent your extensions from drying out.

IS POPPY HAIR HUMAN HAIR?

Poppy Hair is 100% Human Remy hair and of premium quality. Keep that in mind when caring for your hair. Just as certain recommendations are made for your own hair, we make those same recommendations for your Poppy Hair. You may use styling products, color, and heat, but in order to extend the life of your Poppy Hair, treat it as you would your own.

SO WHAT DOES REMY HUMAN HAIR MEAN?

Remy human hair is the highest grade of real, human hair that is a preferred choice for hair extensions because it achieves the most natural look. Remy hair is considered to be the finest quality of human hair because the cuticles are kept intact and not stripped. This process ensures that the hair remains super soft, shiny, silky and completely tangle-free throughout its lifetime.

Clip-in Poppy Hair extensions use only the finest quality of remy human hair, which means that the hair has been carefully sorted after collecting from the hair donor to ensure all the cuticles are of the same length. It is by far the best quality of clip in human hair extensions on the market because of the care that is required and the time it takes to sort the hair so meticulously. It is suggested to invest money in remy hair extensions because not only do they appear more natural but last longer than other types of extensions.

DO CLIP-IN HAIR EXTENSIONS DAMAGE YOUR HAIR?

The type and application methods matter when it comes to hair extensions. Some more permanent hair extensions can cause damage due to the bonding, gluing, and pulling on the hair. We cannot speak for all extension products on the market, but we can confidently say that Poppy Hair Extensions will NOT damage your hair. In fact, there is no complicated and lengthy process, no weaving and no glue. With clip-in hair extensions, you get a full, gorgeous head of hair in one set without any of the concerns of damage to your natural hair. Clip-in hair extensions are the least damaging option as they are simply clipped into your hair like any regular hair clip. Additionally, since you are not sleeping with the extensions in or wearing them non-stop for a long period of time, this reduces the amount of pulling and stress on your hair, which results in healthier hair. Clip-in hair extensions can be reapplied and styled daily.

WHERE DOES THE HAIR COME FROM?

All of our hair is sourced and manufactured in China. We source our hair straight from verified distributors, who depend on their long-standing reputation for ethical sourcing and quality hair.

We only choose to work with companies where workers are satisfied and happy to be apart of the team. Also, all of our hair is donated, sold, or exchanged fairly. We also obtain our hair from many hair salons, who choose to sell their hair instead of throwing it away into the waste stream.

WHY ARE THERE SHORT HAIRS IN MY EXTENSIONS?

The shorter hairs you see in your set are specifically applied during the manufacturing level to help those who already have layers in their hair, and to help create more dimension in the set. These additional layers make the hair in the set look more natural because we also have shorter strands of hair throughout our head because all hair sheds and grows at different rates.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE TESTER WEFT?

We understand that it can be hard determining your correct Poppy Hair match from a computer or iPhone, which is why we include a tester weft located in the bottom compartment of each Poppy Bag. This compartment should be opened first to determine whether or not the shade is the right match for you. If it's not an ideal match, we are more than happy to accommodate a return or exchange on packages that have not been opened or tampered with.

You're welcome to take the hair out of its netting to be able to hold the weft up close to your hair for color comparison purposes. We kindly ask that you treat this weft with care as it is a part of the full set. The tester weft cannot be dyed, cut, or tampered with in any other way as it will no longer be returnable if it's in this condition.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO STORE CLIP-IN HAIR EXTENSIONS?

When you aren’t wearing your extensions, store them with care. Always store them in a dry place, avoid bending and creasing the hair over long periods. For best appearance, clip-in hair extensions should be stored away when completely dry. The Poppy Hair bag your extensions arrive in is specifically designed so you can reuse the bag as storage for your Poppy Hair. Which is perfect for traveling!

DO HAIR EXTENSIONS SHED & TANGLE?

As with any clip-in hair extensions, usually when hair extensions are first used it is normal to have some hair fallout during the lifespan of the clip in extensions. It's an expected occurrence and really is nothing to worry about.

You can minimize shedding/hair-fallout, by maintaining your hair extensions with utmost care, and gently brushing them before and after each use from bottom to top.

As for tangling, just like your natural hair, hair extensions can and may tangle. When wearing Poppy Hair, we recommend that you brush them throughout the day with a wet brush, to keep them tangle free and smooth.
